Interior minister, Japan’s ambassador stress cooperation in security, economic fields

AMMAN — Interior Minister Mazen Faraya on Sunday met with Japan’s Ambassador to Amman Shimazaki Kaoru to discuss bolstering cooperation in the security and economic fields.
Faraya stressed that Jordanian-Japanese relations are witnessing increasing developments that reflect the cooperation between the countries over issues of common interest, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He highlighted the need to exchange security expertise to combat terrorism and extremism, which often stems from difficult economic conditions and a lack of job opportunities.
In light of the regional and international circumstances, these efforts will help achieve peace and stability in the region and the world, the minister added.
The minister praised Japan’s support to Jordan through its reform programmes and development projects.
During the meeting, Faraya called for increasing Japanese investments in the Kingdom, especially in light of the government policies and decisions that are continuously taken to attract investments.
In turn, Japan’s ambassador lauded the “motivational and organisational” measures the Jordanian government has taken to increase the demand for the coronavirus vaccine, for citizens, refugees and all those residing in the Kingdom.
He valued the extent to the development and modernisation the Kingdom has witnessed in all fields, expressing his country's desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation to fulfil common interests.
