Meeting discusses Jordanian-Japanese parliamentary relations

AMMAN — Head of the Jordanian-Asia and Oceania Parliamentary Friendship Association MP Abdel Rahim Al Maaiah on Wednesday stressed the importance of furthering Jordanian-Japanese relations, notably enhancing political coordination, as well as cooperation in the fields of economy, culture, tourism, education and transport.

During his meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Jordan Shimazaki Kaoru, Maaiah stressed the necessity of strengthening Jordanian-Japanese parliamentary relations, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

He also highlighted the importance of Japan's role in supporting issues of common concern, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause, lauding Japan’s stance towards supporting the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

The MP also went over the refugee issue and its repercussions on the Kingdom. Kaoru, for his part, valued Jordan’s efforts to bolster bilateral relations and maintain regional security and stability. Japan sees Jordan as a strategic partner, he said, expressing his country’s readiness to support the Kingdom amidst the current circumstances.
