Jordanian-Asia and Oceania House committee meets with Bangladesh ambassador

AMMAN — The Jordanian-Asia and Oceania Parliamentary Friendship Committee on Sunday met with Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Jordan Nahida Sobhan, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the meeting, Association Chairman MP Abdul Rahim Maaiah described Jordanian-Bangladeshi relations as "deep-rooted", calling on Bangladesh to support His Majesty King Abdullah's stances towards the Palestinian issue and the Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem's Islamic and Christian holy sites.

Condemning Israel's attacks against Palestinian people, Maaiah highlighted Jordan's support for realising Palestinian rights and achieving a just and comprehensive peace.

The two sides were keen to bolster bilateral ties in the military, economic, agricultural, tourism and educational fields. Members of the association also noted the importance of promoting both countries' tourist attractions and exchanging tourism-related expertise.

Sobhan affirmed Bangladesh’s support for the Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem's holy sites, explaining that Bangladesh has not recognised Israel as a state.

Sobhan stressed Bangladesh's support for Palestinians’ right to establish an independent state on their national soil.
