AMMAN — Several senators on Monday met with an EU delegation and Swiss Ambassador to Amman Emilija Georgieva to discuss human rights issues.
Senator Mustafa Hamarneh, head of the public services committee at the Senate, stressed that the Kingdom enjoys "modern" laws that enable the judiciary to issue verdicts in a way that realises security and stability in society and maintains the right to life and human rights, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
For her part, Georgieva said that the right to life is the first fundamental human right, referring to her country's aspiration to work in partnership with other countries to preserve the right to life and human rights.
The diplomat also commended the Kingdom's efforts, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, in implementing comprehensive reforms at the political, economic and administrative levels.
