AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah on Wednesday received the family of Gendarmerie Corporal Ali Mohammad Zreiqat who passed away in Bahrain while working in a joint training mission with Bahraini security forces.
King Abdullah voiced pride in Zreiqat and other members of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) who were martyred while protecting the country or on duty abroad.
His Majesty said these soldiers have been true to the name “Arab Army”, representing the entire Arab nation, setting an example of selfless sacrifice for the sake of their homeland, their Arab and Muslim nation and the message of Islam.
Zreiqat’s parents expressed their appreciation for His Majesty’s gesture and his solidarity with them. Gendarmerie Department Director Maj. Gen. Ahmad Sweilmin also attended the meeting.
Zreiqat was working in the joint training mission with Bahraini security forces, “part of a cooperation programme that has been going on for several years”.
He was killed when a group of rioters attacked security guards with rocks and Molotov cocktails, and then remotely detonated an explosive, according to the Bahraini authorities.
