AMMAN — The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) on Tuesday announced a state of emergency to deal with the expected weather conditions, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
According to GAM Spokesperson Nasser Rahamneh, the municipality renewed its call on the public to contact the main operations room in the Tla Al Ali area on 065359970, 065359971 or mobile 0798166789, and the operations rooms of the 22 sub-regions of the Amman Municipality in the event of an emergency.
GAM urged people to take the initiative to remove moving panels from the roofs of their buildings so that they do not fly due to speedy winds.
The municipality also urged the public to stay away from flood-prone areas and not to connect house gutters to sewage networks to avoid flooding.
It encouraged inspecting submersible pumps in buildings and shops located below street level, and taking preventive measures when storing goods in warehouses and basement floors, urging contractors and owners of construction projects to secure building materials to avoid erosion, which could lead to the closure of rainwater drainage lines.
