Jordan reels under cold wave as another spell forecast to hit Tuesday

AMMAN — A cold front that gripped the Kingdom over the weekend is forecast to continue until Monday, while a new cold air mass is expected to hit the country by Tuesday, according to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD).

The weather on Sunday and Monday is forecast to be relatively cold, bringing rainfall at intervals in the northern and central parts of the Kingdom, with isolated showers in the eastern and southwestern areas, the JMD said, forecasting heavy rainfall in the north.

On Tuesday, the new cold front is expected to bring heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with northwesterly brisk winds, the weather department said. 

Over the week, the JMD warned of slippery roads, flash floods in low-lying areas, especially in the north, and poor visibility due to fog formation in mountainous areas. 

Temperatures in Amman on Sunday will see a high of 11°C during the day and a low of 5°C at night, while on Monday mercury levels are expected to range between 11°C and 5°C. On Tuesday, temperatures are forecast to range between 7°C and 2°C.

In Aqaba, temperatures are predicted to range between 22°C and 14°C on Sunday, between 22°C and 13°C on Monday and between 19°C and 10°C on Tuesday.
