Earthquake hits Aqaba on Sunday morning

AMMAN — An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale at a depth of 8km was recorded in the south of Aqaba on Sunday, Jordan Seismological Observatory Director Mahmoud Qaryouti said.

The earthquake, reported at 8:05am, hit the area some 60 kilometres from the shores of the city and was felt by its residents, according to an observatory statement.
