Minor earthquake detected west of Aqaba, felt in city

AMMAN — An earthquake was recorded in the west of Aqaba on Tuesday. Jordan Seismological Observatory director, Mahmoud Qaryouti, said the earthquake took place at 5:59pm (local time), measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale at a depth of 8km. Qaryouti added that the earthquake hit the area west of Aqaba and was felt by the residents of the city, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
