4.4 magnitude earthquake hits Wadi Araba on Friday

AMMAN — An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale at a depth of 21km struck Wadi Araba on Friday, with no damage reported, according to the Jordan Seismological Observatory.
The earthquake, reported at 7:31pm, hit the area some 30 kilometres west of the city of Tafileh and 20 kilometres south of the Dead Sea, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Earlier in the month, on April 5, an earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale at a depth of 8km was recorded in the south of Aqaba.
The earthquake, reported at 8:05am, hit the area some 60 kilometres from the shores of the city and was felt by its residents, according to a previous observatory statement.
