Court suspends proceedings of Jordan’s biggest drug case

AMMAN — The State Security Court on Wednesday suspended the proceedings of a narcotics-related case, involving 21 defendants of different nationalities, until unrepresented defendants hire lawyers.
According to an official statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, this stands to be the biggest narcotics case in the modern history of Jordan.
The prosecutor general charged the defendants with owning, manufacturing and trafficking narcotics and colluding with international criminal organisations, in addition to producing illicit chemical substances and laundering money.
The 12th and 13th defendants were excluded from some of the charges. The hearing session has been adjourned until the January 6, 2019.
