35,000 work permits issued to domestic helpers this year

AMMAN — The Labour Ministry has issued 35,000 work permits to domestic helpers so far this year, generating JD11 million in fees.
Bangladeshis constituted 44 per cent of the total number of those who obtained the permits, followed by Filipinos at 32 per cent.
The Labour Ministry has recruited five additional employees to finalise first time workers’ applications, which number more than 17,000.
