AMMAN — The Labour Ministry will start opening bank accounts for domestic helpers as of August as a prerequisite for issuing their work permits, Ibrahim Saudi, secretary general assistant for directorate affairs at the ministry, said on Wednesday.
This procedure aims at protecting domestic helpers and organising the labour market, Saudi added.
Under the new procedure, banks will provide the ministry with monthly reports on recruiters who do not transfer salaries to the helpers they hire, he said.
