Al Sharq Al Sarea honours partners

AMMAN — Al Sharq Al Sarea Trading Company, agents for the SebaMed and Aloe Fresh products, on Thursday held a lunch banquet in appreciation of local partners and service providers’ efforts, according to a statement from the company released on Saturday.

The ceremony was held at Amman Rotana Hotel and was attended by senior employees at the company, a number of reporters and local service providers.

 

 

Orange Jordan concludes second point of sale competition

AMMAN — Orange Jordan recently held its second point of sale competition across the Kingdom, which aims to reward its best-achieving dealers.

The competition concluded with a closing ceremony at Orange Jordan’s City Centre headquarter building, with the attendance of Orange Jordan CEO Jérôme Hénique and Indirect & Proactive Sales Director at Orange Jordan Samer Al Haj. One winner from each region was awarded for achieving the highest sales rates of Orange Jordan’s products and services. The winners were presented with a car, in addition to other prizes.

“We are happy to conclude our second point of sale competition, and we are very proud of our partners and would like to congratulate them on their continuous hard work, effort and dedication to our brand,” Hénique said. 

 

 

UNRWA, AJIB to provide educational opportunities for Palestinian refugees

AMMAN — UNRWA and the Arab Jordan Investment Bank (AJIB) have initiated a new partnership to expand educational opportunities for young Palestinian refugees in Jordan.

A memorandum of understanding was signed recently by Director of UNRWA Operations in Jordan Roger Davies,and the CEO and General Manager of AJIB Hani Al Qadi at the AJIB Tower in Amman, with AJIB and UNRWA staff in attendance.

The partnership will include AJIB-funded scholarships for two vulnerable Palestinian refugee students, which will cover five academic years in a public university, enabling them to pursue their higher education, achieve their full potential and strengthen their future prospects.

Furthermore, this partnership will provide four students currently enrolled in UNRWA TVET centres with the opportunity to intern at the bank, allowing them to develop their practical skills and giving them a competitive edge in the labour market. Senior AJIB employees will also provide four capacity-building sessions at the UNRWA TVET centres to enrich the students’ skills.

AMMAN — Investbank promotes financial education for parents to teach their children how to save and handle money.

Through a partnership with Al Marji’ Publications, publishers of Jordan’s parenting magazines, Family Flavours and Nakahat ‘Ailiyeh, and the Children’s Museum Jordan, seven of Jordan’s experts led interactive sessions with parents relating to their field of expertise.

Partnership to promote health awareness

The Royal Health Awareness Society (RHAS) and Al Marji’ Publications will continue promoting health awareness as they have renewed their cooperation agreement on Tuesday.

Through Al Marji’ Publications’ two parenting magazines, Family Flavours and Nakahat ‘Ailiyeh, RHAS will reach out to parents and caregivers with health information to promote healthier lives through its programmes and tips.

“We consider these magazines part of our media arm in raising the awareness of families about public health issues and preventive health measures, which falls in line with our mission,” said Hanin Odeh, RHAS director general.

An initiative of Queen Rania, RHAS aims to empower Jordanians to adopt healthy lifestyles. “RHAS complements our mission in both Nakahat ‘Ailiyeh and Family Flavours,” noted Hind-Lara Mango, managing director and publisher of Al Marji’ Publications.

“The society continues to provide our readers with credible statistics and health information for the whole family,” she added.

IKEA recalls MYSINGSÖ beach chair for risk of falling or finger entrapment

IKEA urges customers who have bought a MYSINGSÖ beach chair before February 2017 to bring it back to any IKEA store for replacement or a full refund. 

After washing the fabric seat, it is possible to re-assemble the chair incorrectly leading to risks of falls or finger entrapments.

IKEA has received five incident reports in which MYSINGSÖ beach chair collapsed during use due to incorrect re-assembly.

All five reports included injuries to fingers. The reported injuries happened in Finland, Germany, USA, Denmark and Australia. Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required for a replacement or a full refund.

Landmark Hotel Amman hosts chef Manal Al Alem

Landmark Amman Hotel sponsored the “Healthy, Not Hungry” initiative by the World Food Programme (WFP). Chef Manal Al Alem prepared a series of dishes from local home-grown ingredients for the guests in support of the initiative on Monday, to highlight the importance of supporting the local economy in the fight against hunger.

The event is in line with Landmark Amman Hotel’s commitment to supporting initiatives that serve the local society and contribute to its progress and development. The World Food Programme will organise several meetings to discuss the battle against hunger as part of the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals plan for the year 2030.

Hayat FM, Al Marji' Publications partner for third consecutive year

Hayat FM and Al Marji' Publications renewed their partnership for a third year towards promoting positive values, including family-related ones.

At the signing ceremony of the partnership agreement, head of Hayat FM board of directors, Musa Saket, said he was delighted with the partnership, describing it as “strategic”.

Dnata Jordan to deliver over 3 million meals

Dnata, an air services provider, will mark a key milestone in its catering operation at Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) and Amman Civil Airport — preparing over 3 million meals in 2016, according to a company statement.

Its main QAIA kitchen is currently the largest airline catering facility in Jordan, spanning over 13,104 square metres.

This is a full catering production facility that includes an in-house bakery and pastry capabilities, and caters to various cuisines including Asian, African-inspired and European menus.

It offers a range of ancillary services such as a laboratory for food testing, a laundry service and bonded warehouses.

Commenting on the company’s endeavour, Dana K. Adwan, managing director at Dnata Catering Jordan, said: “This is a significant milestone for us at dnata.
