AMMAN — UNRWA and the Arab Jordan Investment Bank (AJIB) have initiated a new partnership to expand educational opportunities for young Palestinian refugees in Jordan.
A memorandum of understanding was signed recently by Director of UNRWA Operations in Jordan Roger Davies, and the CEO and General Manager of AJIB Hani Al Qadi at the AJIB Tower in Amman, with AJIB and UNRWA staff in attendance.
The partnership will include AJIB-funded scholarships for two vulnerable Palestinian refugee students, which will cover five academic years in a public university, enabling them to pursue their higher education, achieve their full potential and strengthen their future prospects.
Furthermore, this partnership will provide four students currently enrolled in UNRWA TVET centres with the opportunity to intern at the bank, allowing them to develop their practical skills and giving them a competitive edge in the labour market. Senior AJIB employees will also provide four capacity-building sessions at the UNRWA TVET centres to enrich the students’ skills.
