Boulevard wraps up ‘Neon Summer’

The Boulevard wrapped up its summer festival “Neon Summer” after extending for one full month starting from August 8 till September 8. Neon Summer at The Boulevard marked the celebrations of Abdali’s fifth year anniversary whereby the promenade magically glowed with lighting, decoration and neon structures. The bright and vibrant colours reflected the happy vibes of summer.

During the event period, The Boulevard featured a number of attractions including the fountain of bubbles, the arcade games area which created feelings of nostalgia for adults and excitement for children.

The event also included the spine chilling Phobia as a haunted house for visitors to enjoy. During Eid Al Adha, The Boulevard organised a variety of live performances and throughout the entire duration of the event, special neon characters and LED dancers were roaming around and taking memorable photos of the visitors.

With more than 400,000 visitors during this one-month period, The Boulevard remains the top destination for events and entertainment all year round, attracting tourists and locals of different ages and nationalities.

Coming up next is the French Week at The Boulevard in collaboration with CAFRAJ. The event exposes Jordanians and expats to the beauty of the French culture with mixed entertainment, decoration and food components starting from the September 14, 2019.

Abdali Medical Centre opened

Abdali Medical Centre, the newest multispecialty hospital in Amman, has been officially opened to serve patients from Jordan and abroad. The centre delivers top quality care for patients across numerous medical areas including: Orthopedics and rheumatology, cardiovascular care.

Also, there is general and bariatric surgery, a breast and women’s health centre, urogynecology, plastic surgery, dermatology and aesthetics centre, an ear, nose and throat centre, urology, diabetes and endocrinology, neurology and neurosurgery, nephrology and dialysis, pulmonology and intensive care, internal medicine, infectious diseases and anesthesiology and pain management, and emergency medicine.

The hospital has comprehensive diagnostic services including all modalities of radiology from the latest MRI to CT scans to nuclear medicine, as well as a very advanced Pathology and Laboratory Department.

‘London Initiative 2019’: Education partnership to be launched

In implementation of the “Jordan Growth and Opportunity: The London Initiative 2019”, Middle East University (MEU) and the University of Strathclyde (UOS) are to officially launch the first UK-Jordanian joint Pharmacy Programme (MPharm) between the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University and its counterpart at the University of Strathclyde.

The programme represents a primary step in the current academic cooperation in higher education between Jordan and the UK.

Marking its launch, the Middle East University will host a ceremony on Saturday, September 14th, that will be attended by Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Walid Maani, the ambassador of the United Kingdom to Jordan, Edward Oakden; chairman of MEU’s Board of Trustees Yacoub Nasereddin; and the university’s President Mohammad Al Hileh.

On behalf of the University of Strathclyde, its Vice Chancellor Jim McDonald will be attending. The MPharm programme will be jointly taught between the two faculties in a (3+2) format.

Students will spend the first three years of the programme in Jordan at MEU, and afterwards continue the remaining two years in the UK, thus obtaining a joint certificate from both universities. 

Joramco hosts family fun day

Joramco held a families fun day for its employees in its facility at Queen Alia International Airport on Saturday.

The company’s facility was transformed into a wonderland of: Live music, food stations, children’s bouncy castles and face painting.

The day was a great opportunity for employees to show their families where they work and meet many colleagues.

In total, over 1600 employees attended with their families. With more than 50 years of experience, Joramco has built a sound track record as a leading commercial aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul facility serving a wide range of customers in the; Middle East, Europe, South Asia, Africa, Russia and the CIS countries, offering services on several aircraft models from the Airbus, Boeing and Embraer fleets. 

 

RJ reaches great punctuality rating

Royal Jordanian (RJ) ranked 3 stars, according to OAG’s On-Time Performance (OTP) Star Rating for the world's airlines and airports.

The OTP for this ranking was measured in the June 2018-May 2019 period, with RJ’s annual punctuality rate reaching 74.7 per cent.

The On-Time Performance Star Rating is an ongoing accreditation programme which awards all airlines and airports a star rating once a year. The star ratings range from one to five stars; the top 10 per cent receive five stars. The awards are then distributed across all airlines and airports, with the poorest performers receiving one star.

“RJ has been lately receiving very good rankings from a leading provider of digital flight data: OAG,” RJ President/CEO Stefan Pichler said. “I wish to thank our operations team for their continuous hard work to maintain flights punctual.

We will keep our commitment to our passengers and strive to ensure that they have safe and on-time flights while enjoying great ground and air services,” he added.

MEU offers new programme

The Faculty of Pharmacy at Middle East University (MEU) has held an introductory seminar on the British pharmacy programme (MPharm), jointly launched with the University of Strathclyde.

The seminar highlighted the programme that is designed to prepare and qualify pharmacy graduates to deal with healthcare issues facing the community in the 21st century.

The seminar was attended by Zaid Al Kailani who heads the Jordan Pharmaceutical Association, Chairman of MEU’s Board of Trustees Yacoub Nasereddin and the university’s President Mohammad Al Hileh, as well as pharmacists from various pharmaceutical sectors, in addition to academics and researchers in pharmaceutical sciences.

 

Zain Jordan, UNFPA work towards sustainable development

Zain Jordan and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Jordan signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Jordan.

Under the MoU, the two parties will join efforts to advance gender equality, women’s empowerment and youth led initiatives by conducting several joint campaigns in the country.

“The partnership between UNFPA Country Office in Jordan and with Zain under the slogan of Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment is both strategic and timely,” said UNFPA Jordan Head of Office Enshrah Ahmed.

Stemming from its commitment towards supporting local communities including the Jordanian youth, Zain in partnership with UNFPA will join hands to advance various options for young generation through education, capacity building for youth on life skills, innovative health tools and strengthening youth community engagement.

In addition the partnership will foster collaboration between Zain Innovation Campus and UNFPA Shababna (youth) network for the promotion of youth led innovative initiatives in Jordan. 

Ethmar launches vocational education financing in partnership with LTUC

Ethmar for Islamic Microfinance has signed a partnership agreement with Luminus Technical University College (LTUC). The agreement aims at empowering low-income students and children of small entrepreneurs, according to Ziad Al Refai, executive director of Ethmar.

Through the new finance product, students will be able to get the benefit of education at cash price, while paying in installments for long periods that last until after completion of study and joining the labour market, thus relieving the burden on parents under the difficult economic conditions faced by Jordanians, he explained.

LTUC provides a diploma and a professional bachelor degree to young people within new professional disciplines that work to meet the needs of the labour market.

“With this partnership, young people will be able to enroll in an exclusive and required Bachelor and diploma programmes in the labour market, which will help them get a job during their studies and even after graduation,” Dean of Luminus Technical University College Ayman Maqableh noted.
