‘Ayla supports Jordanian entrepreneurs’

Ayla Oasis Development Company renewed its commitment to supporting entrepreneurship within the business sector, by providing spaces within its retail services area at the Marina Village.

Renting services at the Marina Village will soon become available to a group of businesses that include restaurants from Akkawi Group, Eight Group, Heros and Melange Coffee House, and other pioneering Jordanian brands.

This move comes as part of Ayla’s efforts to provide integrated support services to a diverse range of businesses.

Ayla also provides youth-led companies and entrepreneurs with a platform to expand their businesses and develop their activities, with support services, outstanding infrastructure and access to its established urban multiuse project developed creatively with an open-minded work team.

Ayla Oasis Development Company Managing Director Engineer Sahl Dudin said, "As part of our commitment to our master plan, we have expanded our support services to meet the needs of Ayla’s residents and visitors.

We recently welcomed to the Marina Village a diverse group of Jordanian businesses, who will join an already impressive roster of establishments.

MEU and Strathclyde University, Glasgow launch joint BA programme in pharmacy

The degree will allow students to study for three years at MEU before spending the last two years on Strathclyde University’s campus in UK.

During the launch ceremony, MEU said it was holding talks to launch several joint programmes, in addition to its flagship degree in Pharmacology.

Britain’s ambassador to Jordan, Edward Oakden, extolled the virtues of internationalisation in advancing UK-Jordanian ties, adding that future links between the two countries will be firmly rooted in educational exchange. 

BCI organises blood donation campaign

As part of its commitment towards corporate social responsibility, BCI has organised a blood donation campaign, in collaboration with the Jordan Blood Bank.

The Campaign aims to encourage employees to participate in programmes that serve the local community, and this cooperation is seeks to help save the lives of those in need of blood in private and public hospitals.

Moreover, this campaign raises awareness on the health benefits of donating blood for the donors themselves.

The initiative, held at BCI Head Office, was attended by most BCI staff in Jordan. The blood donation campaign embodies the cooperation spirit among the company’s staff and their commitment to contribute to humanitarian activities.

Fadi Baransi, CEO of BCI Mobile Group said: “This initiative is vital to BCI family, as it demonstrates our commitment to our local community... Our staff on Tuesday, showed their great spirits to serve our community, in addition to their generosity.”

Royal Jordanian (RJ) is running a new, global, super saver sales promo starting on Tuesday (September 17) until October 1, under the theme:"BuyBye”. The promo offers customers competitive fares to travel on RJ’s route network between October 17 this year and March 25, 2020, with a maximum stay of 45 days at the destination.

A blackout period includes Christmas and New Year. CitibankJordan wins ‘CSR Programme of the Year’ award

During the Jordan Business Magazine Awards ceremony, Citibank Jordan has been announced as the winner of the “CSR Programme of the Year” Award. The ceremony was attended by more than 250 guests, including prominent businessmen, entrepreneurs, and leading political figures.

Jordan Business Magazine holds this annual event to recognise change makers in Jordan on a variety of fronts and to highlight what the Kingdom has to offer in terms of excellence and innovation. Citi Foundation is Citi’s social investment arm and handles Citi’s CSR work through annual grants that are given to NGOs across the globe.

In Jordan, Citi Foundation works with the Jordan River Foundation and the International Rescue Committee to promote economic progress and improve the lives of people in low-income communities. In comment, Nour Jarrar, CEO of Citibank Jordan said: “This award recognises Citi’s CSR activities and we are truly honoured to receive it for the first time.

Chef Toufic Ismail Joins Fairmont Amman

EY launches GigNow platform

EY announces the launch of GigNow in the MENA region, an online platform that connects people seeking short-term contracts (gigs) with opportunities at EY. Palestinian Museum wins 2019 Aga Khan Award for Architecture

The 2019 Aga Khan Award for Architecture Master Jury has announced its selection of the Palestinian Museum as winner of the prestigious annual prize. The museum shares this honour and prize of one million dollars with five other projects that were also on the award shortlist, which included 20 entries from 16 different countries.

The prize will be presented in a ceremony in Kazan, Russia in the fall of 2019. The Palestinian Museum was designed by Irish architecture firm HeneghanPeng while its gardens were designed by Jordanian landscape architect Lara Zureikat.

According to the Master Jury decision, the museum was selected for its role as a setting that fosters creative endeavours and educational programmes as well as democratic dialogue and a culture of openness and tolerance.

The jury also cited the Museum’s distinct design which blends harmoniously with its natural, rural surroundings among the hillside terraces that characterise the Palestinian landscape. 

Run Jordan announces Samsung Amman Marathon

Run Jordan has announced at a press conference its preparations to launch Samsung Amman Marathon on October 11th, 2019, marking His Majesty King Abdullah’s 20th anniversary of his Accession to the Throne.

The conference was chaired by Yousef Al Shawarbeh, mayor of the Greater Amman Municipality; Run Jordan’s strategic partner, Lina El Kurd, Run Jordan general manager and Mohannad Al Nabulsi, director of Corporate Relations at Samsung Electronics Levant; the official sponsor of Samsung Amman Marathon.

At the press conference, Al Shawarbeh stressed the importance of Samsung Amman Marathon as a unique sport event that gathers the biggest number of runners to run in the heart of the capital, in addition to its promoting tourism, through the marathon’s distinctive path which ends in the Roman Amphitheater as one of the prominent tourist attractions in Amman.

The press conference highlighted Run Jordan’s extended partnership with Samsung Electronics Levant as main sponsor.

 

Cultivating the art of story-telling

Sowt Podcasts in cooperation with the embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands have launched a new project aimed at supporting the production and publishing of podcasts. Under the slogan, “Exploring Equality and Human Rights in Jordan with Podcasts”, the three-year project will support the production of three podcasts.

Two of the shows are continued productions of Sowt’s podcasts, Eib and Mal 3amal, which discuss taboo societal issues, and the experience and rights of immigrant labour in Jordan, respectively. The third show will be an entirely new show exploring journalistic freedom and the journalism scene in Jordan.

The project aims to strengthen community connections and advancing podcasts as a form of media, by hosting podcast listening parties. The project will also provide several journalists with audio production skills training workshops. Sowt Podcasts is a digital audio organisation based in Amman, Jordan that produces high-quality, narrative-driven audio content for Arabic-speaking audiences.
