AMMAN — Minister of Water and Irrigation Raed Abu Soud, and Director-General of the Arab Centre for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) Nasraldin  Obeid discussed on Wednesday various aspects of bilateral cooperation. Both parties emphasised the need to enhance collaboration to implement more water harvesting projects, climate predictions, and the use of modern harvesting technologies, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.  They also stressed the importance of capacity-building through specialised technical courses and improving the efficiency of irrigation water use, especially in the Jordanian Valley regions. Abu Saud presented the water situation in the Kingdom, particularly the fluctuations in rainfall over the past years due to climate change, which led to a significant shortage in preserving available water resources for citizens and host communities with large numbers of refugees. He also highlighted the water sector's efforts in addressing this critical water reality, especially in increasing water harvesting, using advanced irrigation technologies, and capacity-building initiatives.
