AMMAN — Jordan exported103 tonnes of dates to Qatar during the first ten months of 2023, marking a growth rate of 10.6 per cent from the same period of last year when 92 tonnes of Jordanian dates entered the Qatari market.
The upward trend in Qatar's imports of Jordanian dates can be attributed to the expansion of local markets in Qatar, coupled with the increasing demand for date varieties that Jordan is known for producing, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Qatar imports a wide range of Jordanian date varieties, including both fresh and dried dates, with the Medjool being the most popular, followed by Barhi in second place.
Jordanian dates are renowned for their quality and competitive prices, making them a preferred choice for a wide range of consumers in the Qatari market, compared with similar date varieties imported from international markets, particularly from the United States.
