Jordan's dates exports to Qatar increased by 11%

AMMAN — Qatar's imports of Jordanian dates in 2022 went up by 11 per cent, compared with imports in 2022. According to Qatar Planning and Statistics Authority's data, Qatar imported 111 tonnes of Jordanian dates last year, against 100 tonnes in 2022, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The Gulf country produces 20 per cent of its dates demand, while importing the remaining quantity from Jordan, Kuwait, Iran, Oman, Iraq and the US, according to a recent study released by the Qatari Industrial Development Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Jordan mainly exports Barhi and Medjool dates to Qatar's market of 8 million kg, Petra added.
