AMMAN — Jordanian companies’ participation at the 10th Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition (AGRITEQ 2023), which concludes on Sunday, was “a great success”, according to the Jordan Dates Association (JODA) Vice President Abdulkarim Abu Salih.
In press remarks on Saturday, he noted that representatives from Jordanian companies successfully marketed varieties of Medjool dates, which are unique to Jordan and meet international standards, surpassing other countries that produce the same type of dates, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Abu Salih pointed out that Jordanian Medjool dates, along with other date varieties, are not only exported to Gulf markets but they also establish a strong presence in global markets such as Europe and America. Abu Salih added: "We have finally succeeded in exporting dates to the Chinese market, despite fierce competition. About 20,000 tonnes of dates are produced annually, mostly of the Medjool variety. Half of this is exported to foreign markets, while the other half is consumed locally."
