Shboul receives report on health media training project

AMMAN — Minister of Government Communications Faisal Shboul on Monday received a report regarding a health media joint training project for journalism and media graduates from the Director-General of the Royal Health Awareness Society (RHAS), Amal Arefej. 

Shboul, who is also the government spokesperson, emphasised that the project is a part of a number of programmes that the ministry is implementing to develop the media environment and enhance the flow of information to the public, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The project provided fully paid theoretical and practical training opportunities in 12 media institutions for 41 journalism and media graduates, Shboul said.

The minister added that the project yielded innumerable benefits, the most prominent benefit of which was the employment of 25 per cent of participating graduates in various media institutions. The project also resulted in the production of 352 visual, written, audio and digital health media materials.

Shboul commended the Jordan Media Institute, the academic partner in designing the project, as well as donors including the International Diabetes Federation, the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, Radio Netherlands Worldwide and the International Relief Committee, commending the role of the local media institutions that hosted the trainees over the project’s six month duration.

Arefej highlighted the importance of the partnership between RHAS, an initiative of Her Majesty Queen Rania, and the ministry, expressing her aspiration to implement other programmes to further encourage future media and health journalism.
