AMMAN — British newspapers, on Wednesday, showed keen interest in the official celebrations of the wedding of HRH Crown Prince Hussein and Ms Rajwa Alseif.
The Guardian, The Independent, Sky News, along with local newspapers across different regions in Britain, highlighted the preparations for the upcoming wedding ceremony, scheduled for Thursday. They also covered the ongoing popular and private festivities taking place throughout the Kingdom marking this occasion.
The Guardian reported that famous musicians from across the Arab world flocked to the Jordanian capital to perform at a free concert in honour of the couple.
Meanwhile, The Independent's report said the Crown Prince is heir to the throne in one of the oldest monarchies in the Middle East and a descendant of the Prophet Mohammad, noting that this has solidified Jordan's monarchy as a “bastion of stability" in the tumultuous Middle East for many decades.
Jordan has been a bastion of stability for decades as the Middle East turmoil lapped at its borders, The Independent report said.
The report also acknowledged the Crown Prince's achievement of becoming the youngest person to ever chair a meeting of the United Nations Security Council in 2015, where he led a discussion on how to help young people confront violent extremism and promote peace.
Sky News also published a report on the upcoming nuptials with the headline "Jordan Prepares for Royal Wedding of Crown Prince Hussein and Rajwa Alseif." Arab newspapers such as Al Quds Al Arabi, Elaph, Rai al Youm, along with English-language publications based in London, highlighted the preparations for the wedding ceremony and the nationwide celebrations surrounding the momentous occasion, deeming the event the "centennial wedding”.
