AMMAN — The Desert Road is closed both directions around the Zmeileh area, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson said on Tuesday, calling on the public to avoid the road and adhere to PSD personnel's instructions.
The spokesperson said that the PSD received information regarding a number of people stranded by floods inside a bus on the road, according to a PSD statement.
Specialised PSD teams rushed to the scene once they received the information and rescued 22 people trapped in the bus, said the spokesperson, adding that all are in fair condition.
The directorate called on the public to stay away from low-lying areas and places prone to flooding during the prevailing unstable weather. Later in the day, the PSD announced that the road has been reopened.
