AMMAN — Northern Military Zone personnel on Monday foiled an infiltration attempt by a man from Syria into the Kingdom and found weapons and quantities of drugs in the area.

A source at the Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army (JAF) said that troops applied the rules of engagement, adding that a search of the area led to the seizure of a Kalashnikov rifle, 76 rounds of ammunition and a hand grenade, as well as 42 bags of hashish and 13 Captagon pills, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The source added that the man and the seized items were referred to the relevant security authorities. The JAF source vowed to deal with full force with any infiltration or smuggling attempt to protect the Kingdom and the security of its borders.
