AMMAN — The Northern Military Zone on Saturday early morning foiled infiltration and smuggling attempts from the Syrian territories into the Kingdom.
A source at the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said that the rules of engagement were applied, leading to the injury of a smuggler and the retreat of suspects to Syria, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The vehicle laden with narcotics was seized, the source added, noting that after searching the vehicle the agents found 578 palm-sized sheets of hashish, 6,447,000 Captagon pills and 1,876 Lyrica pills, as well as tools for smuggling purposes, all of which were referred to relevant authorities, added the source.
The source added that the army will apply “full force” to thwart any infiltration or smuggling attempts, protecting the Kingdom’s borders and citizens.
