AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi met on Tuesday with Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation Jose Manuel Albares on the sidelines of the visit of His Majesty King Abdullah to Madrid. The ministers emphasised the need for a ceasefire in Gaza and the sufficient and sustainable provision of humanitarian aid to the sector, according to a Foreign Ministry statement. Safadi stressed the importance of the international community taking effective and immediate steps to stop the brutal Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, causing death and destruction. He said that this aggression reflects brutal vindictiveness and extremist Israeli policies that deny the humanity of the Palestinian people and their right to freedom and an independent state. Safadi appreciated Spain's clear stance in calling for a ceasefire and supporting the rights of the Palestinian people, especially their right to live in security and peace in their independent and sovereign state, based on the two-state solution. The ministers agreed to continue joint efforts to stop the catastrophe and achieve a just, comprehensive and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.
