Royal Court chief, Fakhoury meet American Jewish Committee delegates

AMMAN — Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah, Royal Court Chief Fayez Tarawneh on Tuesday met with a delegation from the American Jewish Committee (AJC) currently visiting the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. During the meeting, held at Basman Palace, Tarawneh and the delegates reviewed the strategic partnership between Jordan and the US.

Tarawneh also affirmed Jordan’s support for efforts to reach political solutions to regional crises, in addition to supporting anti-terrorism efforts. The meeting also covered reviving Palestinian-Israeli peace negotiations.

The delegates commended Jordan’s support for efforts to boost security and stability in the region and the world. Planning and International Cooperation Minister Imad Fakhoury also met the AJC delegates, calling for a comprehensive solution to refugee crisis.

The UN and the World Bank estimated the direct cost of hosting Syrian refugees in Jordan at $8.6 billion between 2011 and 2016, according to a ministry statement.
