AMMAN — A delegation from the Gaza Ministry of Health, led by the Director of Cooperation and Planning, on Saturday visited the Jordanian field hospital in southern Gaza.
The delegation was briefed on the hospital's operations by its commander and director, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The field hospital, established under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), is playing a crucial role in alleviating Gaza's humanitarian crisis.
Equipped with a comprehensive medical team, the hospital operates around the clock to provide emergency care and essential health services.
It is regularly supplied with medications and medical equipment through overland convoys from Jordan, enabling the hospital to meet the escalating healthcare demands of Gaza’s population, the hospital's director said.
During the visit, the delegation expressed their gratitude to His Majesty and the JAF for their unwavering support, which extends beyond healthcare to include vital food aid. They also thanked the medical and administrative staff for their tireless efforts in delivering quality care to patients amidst the ongoing war and Israeli aggression.
Jordan runs two military field hospitals in Gaza, one in the strip’s north, which was established in 2009 following the Hamas-Israel war in 2008.
The second was established in Khan Younis in the south in November 2023 at the peak of the Israeli aggression on the coastal enclave that erupted on October 7.
Besides the field hospitals in Gaza, the JAF established the Jordanian field hospital in Nablus in late November 2023 and has conducted over 900 surgeries and received more than 83,000 patients ever since.
The Kingdom has also established two health centres in Ramallah and Jenin, serving tens of thousands of patients in the West Bank.
