AMMAN — Jordan on Tuesday condemned ongoing Israeli intrusions and recurrent attacks on Palestinian cities, the latest of which was an attack on Nablus and Ramallah, which occurred at dawn on Tuesday.
The Foreign Ministry also strongly denounced the Israeli military’s escalating campaign, warning of a new “wave of violence” that will affect all, according to a ministry statement.
The ministry said that violence will only breed more violence, warning that Israeli raids into Palestinian cities and other measures perpetuating the occupation amid the persistent stalemate in the peace process will lead towards a dangerous escalation for which Israel will be responsible. Such an escalation would threaten regional peace and stability, and kill the last hope of achieving just peace, the ministry added.
The ministry stressed the importance of Israel’s halting of all military operations against Palestinians, as well as all illegitimate procedures that undermine the two-state solution and opportunities for peace.
In this regard, the ministry called on the international community to provide protection to the “brotherly” Palestinian people. The international community must launch serious efforts towards realising a just peace that can end the occupation and result in the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with occupied East Jerusalem as its capital on the pre-1967 lines, living alongside Israel in peace and security according to the two-state solution, relevant international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab peace initiative.
