AMMAN — Jordan on Thursday condemned ongoing Israeli intrusions and recurrent attacks on occupied Palestinian cities, the latest of which was an attack on Jenin, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

Nine Palestinians were killed on Thursday when Israeli forces carried out a raid in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin, according to media reports.

Ministry Spokesperson Sinan Majali denounced the Israeli military’s escalating campaign, warning of a new “wave of violence that will affect all”.

The ministry said that violence will only breed more violence, warning that Israeli raids into Palestinian cities amid the persistent stalemate in the peace process will lead towards a dangerous escalation. Such an escalation would threaten regional peace and stability, and “kill the last hope of achieving a just peace”, the ministry added.

The ministry stressed the importance of Israel halting all its military operations against Palestinians, as well as all its illegitimate procedures that undermine the two-state solution and opportunities for peace.

The international community must launch serious efforts towards resuming negotiations and realising a just peace that can end the occupation and result in the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital on the pre-1967 lines, the statement read.
