AMMAN — The Water Ministry on Wednesday received machines and equipment from the German Development Agency (GIZ) to serve 165,000 subscribers to the wastewater network.
Secretary-General of the Water Authority of Jordan Wael Duwairi said that the new equipment and machines would raise permanent maintenance work for sewage networks and serve 11 purification plants in all areas of the Yarmouk Water Company’s jurisdiction, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During the launch of the unified maintenance centre for the sewage sector at the Yarmouk Water Company, Duwairi added that the new maintenance centre aims at improving the level of the environment and protecting groundwater.
He said that the centre is part of ongoing cooperation between the ministry and GIZ to find permanent solutions to environment issues and improve the level of services provided to citizens in areas hosting Syrian refugees.
The secretary-general expressed appreciation for the German government and institutions for their continued support to the water sector in the Kingdom, stressing the ongoing cooperation with various funding institutions, mainly German, to provide more support to implement new schemes in various areas.
