Army chief meets Brazilian counterpart

AMMAN — Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti received on Monday his Brazilian counterpart Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire and the accompanying delegation.

Huneiti and the guest discussed the latest developments on regional and international paces, aspects of cooperation and coordination in the field of joint military training, and ways to strengthen bilateral relations in the interest of the armed forces of both countries.

Huneiti said, "Jordanian-Brazilian relations serve as a model for facing various challenges and difficulties, and cooperation continues in all military fields through the utilisation of mutual expertise and capabilities."

For his part, Freire affirmed the deep relations that bind the two countries, sharing the same security vision and moving towards achieving regional and international stability.

He also praised the pivotal role played by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in fostering security and stability in the region.

Huneiti and the visiting delegation, in the presence of several senior officers of the JAF, listened to several military briefings that highlighted the areas of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, a joint military cooperation agreement was signed between the Jordanian and Brazilian armed forces, aimed at enhancing cooperation, and the exchange of expertise in military fields between the two countries.
