AMMAN — The world’s largest floating library, Logos Hope, docked at the Aqaba port on Wednesday, loaded with 5,000 books on various scientific, literary and academic topics.
The ship will open its doors to the public on Thursday, and will sell books at low prices and give away souvenirs such as bags, cups, pens, medals and bracelets, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The 132-metre-long ship, managed by a German non-profit organisation, aims to spread “knowledge and hope” in each port that it visits.
The ship’s management chose Port Said as its first destination in the New Year, followed by Aqaba.
The ship has visited more than 480 ports in 150 countries worldwide, receiving some 49 million book enthusiasts over 13 years in its mission to provide a culturally rich experience and foster intercultural connections.
