AMMAN — Youth organisation “Forsa” launched its website and mobile application at a ceremony on Saturday to offer young Arabs easier access to education opportunities abroad.

“Forsa”, the Arabic word for “opportunity”, is now available online through “for9a.com”, showcasing potential scholarships at universities around the world for Arab students.

Forsa’s programmes are for people from the Middle East and North Africa between the ages of 15 and 35 years old, who can submit their applications, CVs and cover letters to the organisation, which will then match them with suitable programmes.

Those interested can create an account on the website or app to access the programmes that meet their needs, members of Forsa said at the launch ceremony.

The event aimed to engage young Jordanians in local initiatives and exchange programmes to “build bridges” between different cultures and countries.

“This is a gathering of both opportunity providers and young people from different social and economic backgrounds,” said Maram Sami, a Forsa volunteer.

At the ceremony, about 100 young Jordanians met with representatives of 20 educational institutions and NGOs that offer scholarships, internships and educational opportunities.

“We are here today because the time has come to invest in educating young people and help them build their own future, become better citizens and stand up for their community,” Hussein Ismail, who attended the event, told The Jordan Times.

Lawyer and activist Asma Khader commended the initiative.

“We always encourage such initiatives; young people are the future of Jordan and they should be involved in all activities, whether educational or social,” the former minister said.

Riyad Hilal, a national sales force member of an NGO, said “the gathering of this amount of youth and opportunity providers was stimulating and promising.”

“It is great to see people taking action and providing opportunities all in one place... we need more of that,” Hilal told The Jordan Times.
