AMMAN — Jordan’s Olympic triathlete Lawrence Fanous said he will bounce back from a nasty crash that took him out of the weekend’s ITU World Triathlon Abu Dhabi event, according to the Jordan Olympic Committee News Service.
Lawrence was well positioned during the bike section of the race before taking a tumble on a tight corner.
His damaged knee meant that he was unable to continue the race but after a check-up back in Jordan, he has assured his followers that he will be back training soon.
“The knee is still like a balloon and some bad road rash, but I was lucky that nothing got broken,” he said. “It could have been a lot worse. “I’ve learned a few things from this that I’ll take forward to my next races.
This is sport and that’s all you can do in these situations — learn and move on. Onwards and upwards.” Lawrence made history in 2016 when he became the first Jordanian triathlete to compete in an Olympic Games.
