AMMAN — Jordan’s media enjoy more freedom compared with press in other countries in the region, British Ambassador to Jordan Edward Oakden said on Tuesday.
During a reception for journalists held at his residence in Amman, the ambassador highlighted the importance of boosting the media and cultural cooperation between the two kingdoms, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Wednesday.
The diplomat said that 2018 was the most dangerous year for journalists, noting that 99 journalists were killed, 348 others were imprisoned and 60 were taken hostage.
The ambassador added that only 13 per cent of the world’s population enjoys free press.
