Training project targeting youth in Irbid concludes

AMMAN — The Qom Charitable Society in the Wasatiya District in the Irbid Governorate, in cooperation with the Irbid Governorate Youth Directorate, has completed the activities of a project to provide social services to the most affected youth.

The project was funded by the Ministry of Youth, the Japanese Fund for Development and the World Bank, according to a statement.

The activities implemented included training of trainers, life skills, leadership training, team skills, free medical days and environmental volunteer work in schools aimed to serve the community.

A total of 313 young men and women — 106 males and 207 females — in the age group of 15 and 30 benefitted from the project.

The number of beneficiaries from Jordan is 296 and 17 from Syria. A total of 181 school students and 132 university students participated in the activities of the project.

The project was implemented in the villages of Qom, Qim, Kafrioba, Kafr Soum, Kafr Asad, Al Barehah and Al Wasatia.

Director of programmes and projects at the Qom Charitable Society Muhammad Lotfi Al Azzam, said that the projects activities aimed to train and develop the skills of young people, instill love for volunteer and raise the capabilities of civil society institutions. 

Ayham Yahya, one of the beneficiaries of the project, said that she had benefitted from the project’s life skills courses and gained experience.

Saja Hatamleh, another beneficiary, said the project’s activities helped in enhancing leadership qualities and boosting creativity.
