AMMAN — Terre des Hommes, an international relief organisation, has organised medical and awareness open-days at the centre of the organisation’s local partner Soldier’s Family Welfare Society (SFWS). The open-days have been funded by the Czech Republic.

Terre Des Homes has organised the open-days as part of a project, funded by the Czech foreign ministry within the project “Sehtak Mustaqbalak,” to improve primary healthcare access to Syrian refugees and Jordanians in the Zarqa governorate, according to a statement from the Czech embassy.

Deborah Da Boit, the country representative of Terre des Hommes Italy in Jordan, said that a total of 300 beneficiaries will be targeted in the medical open-days. Medical services will include gynaecological and paediatric examinations and the distribution of hygiene kits to 470 low-income families in Zarqa, according to Da Boit.

Terre des Hommes will carry out these services in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development and its directorate in Zarqa and the SFWS, the statement said.

The medical open-days will also include awareness sessions on maternal healthcare, reproductive health and personal hygiene to prevent and limit the spread of coronavirus. This activity aims to reach 200 beneficiaries, including men, women and children, the statement said.

SFWS Director Suhad Bani Mustafa said that many women and children have benefited from the provision of medical examinations and medicines during the free medical days.
