The victim was reportedly found stabbed to death in Ashrafieh by a man who fled from the area, Police Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi told The Jordan Times.
The police official added that a team was formed to follow up on the case.
“Following thorough investigations, police were able to identify the suspect from evidence found at the scene,” Sartawi added.
Investigators are currently questioning the suspect to learn more about the motives behind the stabbing, he added.
A second judicial source said that the suspect was referred to the Criminal Court prosecutor for questioning and indictment.
The victim’s body was transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy, the second source added.
The suspect was ordered detained for 14 days by the Criminal Court prosecutor pending further investigations into the incident.
