SSC supporting daily wage workers, families through shopping coupons

AMMAN — The Social Security Corporation (SSC), in cooperation with the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army and the Jordan Red Crescent Society, on Monday continued to distribute pre-paid shopping coupons to daily wage workers for use at the Military Consumer Corporation.

SSC Spokesperson Moussa Subaihi said that the coupon distribution at the SSC’s branches took place according to the information submitted by the workers through an electronic platform that was launched by the SSC 10 days ago, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He noted that the coupons are fully funded by the SSC in cooperation with the Military Consumer Corporation.

A single JD25 coupon is given to families of one to four members, while two coupons are given to families of five to 10 members, Subaihi said, adding that three coupons are given to families with more than 10 members.

He noted that the SSC checks the eligibility of applicants according to the database of the unified national registry at the National Aid Fund.

A total of 24,000 coupons have been distributed to date in various governorates, constituting 40 per cent of the first batch of 60,000 coupons.
