AMMAN — Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, president of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, on Saturday expressed happiness on joining the launching of Irbid as the Arab capital of Culture for 2022.
In a statement, Shaikha Mai highlighted the two kingdoms' ongoing cultural cooperation, as the “brotherly historical relations” are translated into creative, intellectual, and cultural activities and constant communication, the Jordan news Agency, Petra, reported.
“What unites us is the dream of a joint Arab project, and national goals,” Shaikha Mai said.
She also pointed to the importance of cultural infrastructure as culture is part of sustainable development, adding that the whole world is seeking to enhance cultural tourism.
“We seek to form a clearer comprehensive image of our countries and present it to the world at its best,” Shaikha Mai noted.
The selection of Irbid, with its “charming” nature, ancient history and intellectuals, would set “an example of the image that we are seeking”, she said.
