AMMAN — The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources on Monday awarded 12 tenders to seven local companies to implement a project installing solar-cell systems to generate electricity for the houses of 2,213 families benefitting from the National Aid Fund (NAF) across the Kingdom.
Energy Minister Hala Zawati said that the winning companies were chosen out of 23 firms that applied for the JD2.466 million venture, according to a ministry statement.
A total of 12,000 families across the Kingdom will benefit from the project in 2019, Zawati noted, adding that 100,000 households will benefit from the project over several years.
The ministry’s Fils Al Reef Department is accepting applicants who are already beneficiaries of the NAF, and whose monthly consumption does not exceed 300 kilowatts per hour and who have enough space to install the system, Department Director Ziad Saaydeh said.
