AMMAN — A total of 1,770 households have benefitted from the solar cell installation project for underprivileged families and beneficiaries of the National Aid Fund, Energy Minister Hala Zawati said on Monday.
The project covered 80 per cent of the total targetted houses of 2,213 in the first phase to be covered by the end of March, Zawati added in a ministry statement. The minister noted that the ministry has floated seven tenders to implement the second phase of the project, which includes 3,316 households, expecting the remaining four tenders by mid-March.
The minister stressed that the tenders are being implemented by Jordanian contractors under the supervision of stakeholders in the ministry as part of its endeavours to lower electricity costs for targetted beneficiaries.
