AMMAN — Senate President Faisal Fayez on Thursday called for a full review of women's situation in society and urged granting them their full rights.
He noted that the International Women's Day is an opportunity to overcome the challenges faced by women, including low participation in the economy and high unemployment rates, the Jordan News Agency Petra, reported.
At the beginning of a Senate session, he said that Jordanian women deserve equal privileges and to be a "true partner" in Jordan.
He pointed out to some of the legislations that have been amended to improve women's role, noting however that legislations in some field have led to the deterioration of women's situation, such as the area of underage marriage.
