AMMAN — Director of Public Security Directorate (PSD) Maj. Gen. Abeidallah Maaitah launched on Thursday the 2024-2026 strategic PSD plan.

The plan encompasses police and security work domains and the civil defence system, taking into account security developments, crime evolution, and the expanding responsibilities and duties of PSD in providing services to citizens through its departments, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Maaitah stated that the adoption and launch of the plan is in line with the Royal directives of His Majesty King Abdullah, and in accordance with His Majesty's message to the PSD Director to improve performance and services, and ensure the security and safety of lives and properties.

He emphasised that the strategy is based on five main institutional objectives: reducing crime, minimising drug abuse, enhancing traffic safety and road security, effectively responding to emergencies and disasters, and developing the Public Security system continuously by adhering to the highest international standards, adding that PSD has reached advanced levels in various police, security, and civil defence fields.

Maaitah also listened to a briefing presented by the Director of the Planning and International Cooperation Department, outlining the methodology for preparing the strategic plan, its preparation stages, and the mechanism for monitoring and evaluating it.
