Prince Hassan calls for promoting concepts of pluralism, acceptance

AMMAN — HRH Prince Hassan, chairperson of the Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies’ board of trustees, called for reviving the system of shared ethical principles based on human solidarity.
Speaking during the virtual event titled “Ethics of Human Solidarity”, the prince drew attention to the importance of promoting the concepts related to pluralism, acceptance and respect for others, calling for rejecting all acts that lead to destruction and spread hatred, to create peace and a harmonious life, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
“We all agree that we need moral solidarity, as the Pope said in his recent letter titled ‘Fraternity and Social Friendship’”, the prince said, stressing that the tragic events occurring worldwide “should not lead to doubting the value of religion and faith, but should remind us of their key role in reaffirming the sanctity of human life”.
On interfaith dialogue, the prince emphasised the importance of effective communication, adding that realising solidarity among religions requires practical and concrete policies that promote human dignity and desired development.
The prince also touched on strengthening social responsibility, highlighting the role of media and civil society institutions as means of positive change that brings people closer together, besides raising awareness and spreading knowledge.
He also emphasised the importance of cultural convergence, trust building and empowerment to reach citizenship embracing cultural diversity.
The prince also attached importance to humanising numbers and grounding planning on a clear vision to prevent and mitigate the suffering of vulnerable groups, calling for building a global humanitarian system to deal with the migration and forced displacement that have affected people all over the world.
The prince also called for activating the international humanitarian law to become an enforceable law for internal and external peace of tangible impacts currently and in the future.
