AMMAN — HRH Prince Hassan, chairperson of the Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies’ board of trustees, on Wednesday emphasised the need for an all-encompassing cultural project that could restore Arabs’ humanitarian and cultural role as a source of enlightenment during five consecutive centuries in the Middle Ages, as well as to resuscitate the region’s role as a centre of the East-West connectivity.
Speaking during a lecture titled “Mary in Christianity and Islam”, organised by the institute with the participation of several Christian and Islamic scholars and clerics from Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt, the prince stressed the importance of integrating “the religious and spiritual depth of Mary in enriching dialogue to reach the concept of human dignity”, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The lecture is part of the institute’s efforts towards promoting dialogue among different faiths' followers, as well as shedding light on “the thread of commonality” among religions and building a society that believes in tolerance and pluralism, Petra added.
