AMMAN — HRH Prince Hassan participated in a two-day conference organised by the Migration and Refugee Forum in the Arab World, part of the Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD), Tamkeen for Legal Aid and Human Rights and Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung in Palestine and Jordan, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the conference, which started last Thursday, the prince highlighted the importance of bolstering human solidarity, which cultivates respect and rejects exclusionary and discriminatory policies.

The prince also underlined the significance of cooperation, integration, and networking among local, regional, and international parties to tackle challenges faced by refugees and migrants.

The conference, titled “Refugees and Migrants from and in the Arab Region: The Long Shade of Discrimination”, focused on the issues and challenges facing refugees and migrants.

Refugee and migrant issues ought to be addressed from multifaceted perspectives, the prince said, urging relevant stakeholders to “humanise” the statistics.

Providing refugees with better living conditions is not feasible without resorting to a multidisciplinary approach, he said, stressing the need to open a data-based, responsible dialogue among institutions.

The conference, featuring Arab and foreign representatives as well as academics, offered a critical overview of patterns of discrimination practised against migrants and refugees from the Arab region, shedding light on the role of local and international stakeholders in addressing this issue and providing recommendations to overcome these challenges.
