AMMAN — Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Omar Razzaz on Monday attended the digital opening ceremony of the Al Hussein Work and Building Camps 2020 at Al Hussein Youth City.

Addressing the gathering via videoconference, the premier conveyed His Majesty King Abdullah and HRH Crown Prince Hussein’s best wishes to this year’s participants.

Expressing pride in the fact that the camps are being held despite “all the circumstances”, Razzaz said: “This is proof of young women and men’s determination to invest their time in a positive way,” the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Attaching importance to the learning outcomes of the camps, Razzaz  said that what participants gain is “different” from traditional learning through books and classroom education, highlighting the important skills that the participants will acquire, including innovation, teamwork-related skills, dialogue, expressing opinions and accepting others’ opinions.

His Majesty and the Crown Prince pin hopes on participants in the camps becoming future leaders in the public and private sectors, he said.

At the end of his address, Razzaz thanked the Youth Ministry and other stakeholders for launching the camps despite the repercussions  of the coronavirus pandemic.

Al Hussein Camps, established in 1961 under the initiative of His Majesty the late King Hussein, are sponsored by the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, the Public Security Directorate, the Civil Defence Department, the Crown Prince Foundation, the King Abdullah II Fund for Development, the Jordan River Foundation, all ministries and national and international organisations, including the Mohammed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum Foundation.
